Dearness

The followup quintet was improvised live at the Music Gallery, a reprise of the trio dearness: Fred Frith, acoustic and electric guitars, Anne Bourne cello and voice, and John Oswald, saxophone, this time with guests Owen Pallett electric violin, and Wilbert DeJoode contrebass.

The quintet recording was not mastered has not been released on a label so a preview here ...

The first time I recorded with dearness live at the Rivoli, I had not believed in releasing recordings for a long time.

I released the first ‘dearness’ recording on LINE 16 when I realized it would be a clear echo for my daughter, of a sound she would have heard in utero. One of my mentors, James Tenney, was at that concert, He was encouraging and effusive and so the recording is also of his listening.
