Anne Bourne is a composer/ improviser, and interdisciplinary artist who creates emergent streams of cello and voice. Seasoned in electroacoustic performance and song, Anne collaborates with artists Eve Egoyan and Mauricio Pauly CA; Silvia Tarozzi IT; IONE US; Dubmorphology UK; tUkU CA; Stephen Vitiello US; and Kara-Lis Coverdale CA. A composer for dance Anne has created work with choreographer/dancers Robert Desrosiers; Andrea Nann, with author Michael Ondaatje and director Veronica Tennant; Peter Chin; Kathleen Rea; Karen Kaeja; Alutiq artist Tanya Lukin-Linklater; Laura Colomban, IT; Kim de Jong with live filmmaker Philippe Léonard; and for esteemed choreographer Peggy Baker, CA in a choreographers trust performance with Natasha Bakht 2017 and as composer with Ganavya Doraiswamy, for her body as words, 2020-21. Anne has performed the works of living composers Karen Tanaka, James Tenney, Nicholas Collins, Alvin Lucier, and Pauline Oliveros 1932-2016. After a performance in telepresence with Oliveros in New York 1994, Anne spent summers in the Sangre de Cristo mountains of New Mexico with Oliveros, cultivating a listening practice. Anne improvised the premier of Oliveros’ composition 'Primordial/Lift,' NY 1998, and the TAIGA release recorded at Issue Project Room, Brooklyn, 2013; and finally, as an homage to Oliveros, with IONE, ICE, Distraktfold and Mauricio Pauly, at the Contemporary Music Festival, Huddersfield UK, 2017. A Deep Listening® certificate holder since1998, Anne imparts Oliveros’ Text Scores through the intersection of sound and gesture, initiates community sound choirs and facilitates collective creative experience ; at Le Serre dei Giardini Margherita, Bologna, Italy 2019; Acts of Listening Lab, Montreal, 2019; and as MMM_MM/ Ensemble Vide artist in resident, Geneve, CH, 2020, and on faculty at the Banff Centre for Art and Creativity, Collective Composition Lab, under the artistic direction of Claire Chase US, and Emily Molnar CA, Danse Nederland. Anne was the recipient of Paul D. Fleck Leighton Writer’s Colony Fellowship, 2017; and Chalmers Fellowship, 2019-21 for which she researches the geopoetics of shoreline. Anne believes each creative expression is an opportunity for the beauty of difference to emerge, through interference and listening.
