Body of Water (9 cellos)

This composition is informed by water. Water continually allows form to emerge of itself refreshed.

Living on Islands for the better part of my life I have crossed the water and watched how it is stirred and followed the pace of waves on many shorelines.

Travelling in Italy I saw excerpts of the Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci *Of the Nature of Water—Dell'acque in se, viewed his sketches of water. I understood from this the way to know water was to be with water.

And so deeply moved by the work of Indigenous artists and scholars Raven Chacon, Candice Hopkins, and the courage of the initial frontline waterkeepers.

Water moves, I am moved.
